Ixchimche was the capital city of the Kaqchikel empire when the Spanish army invaded Guatemala. Pedro de Alvarado arrived at Ixchimche in 1524.

Cerro Iquitiú

Its name comes from the Kaqchkel lq’utiu (moon -coyote). It is located on the route to Aldea Godínez. It is a protected area with humid cloud forest, with great biodiversity of fauna and flora including orchids. In its lowest part it is they appreciate coffee, bean and corn crops (300 ha.). The degree of difficulty is moderate to high.

Panajachel

Panajachel, also known as Pana, is a charming city located on the shore of Lake Atitlán, in the department of Sololá. The atmosphere is impressive for its beauty and the people who are very friendly. Due to its climate and tranquility, it is a perfect place to relax. It has natural reserves, a variety of restaurants, nightlife, a handicraft market and Spanish schools.

Santiago Apóstol Church

This building with colonial architecture is one of the oldest in the entire Lake Atitlán basin. The convent of the Franciscan order is located on the left lake of the church entrance. Inside the church you can see the image of Santiago Apóstol who wears local costumes.

Cerro Tzankujil

This nature reserve is on a sacred hill west of San Marcos village. Well-maintained pebbly trails lead to swimming areas with shelters by the bank and a diving platform. The water is crystal clear here. A branch off the main trail ascends to a Maya altar on the summit, while a lower spur reaches a volcano lookout.

Lake Atitlán

Located in the department of Sololá, Lake Atitlán is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Guatemala, and was nominated as one of the seven wonders of the world. It is considered as the most beautiful lake in the world, and it is also conceived as one of the most unique places.

Indian's Nose

In the mountains towering over the towns surrounding Lake Atitlan, is one of the most epic sunrise viewpoints in Guatemala. The beauty of the Indian Nose hike for those who aren’t in it for the long haul is that the trek up is less than 30 minutes. At the summit, you will have views over San Pedro, San Clara, San Pablo, Lake Atitlan, and San Pedro Volcano as the sun rises.

Piedra Capitan

Piedra Capitan is a hidden treasure of San Lucas Tolimán. You will appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of the volcanoes and mountains. This beach is fairly quiet with not too many people and you can swim in the lake (which looks transparent and emerald green). If you want to continue exploring, we recommend going all the way to the Piedra Capitán. It's about 100 meters to the right of the beach.

Cerro de Oro

Cerro de Oro is located on the southern shore of Lake Atitlán, between San Lucas Tolimán and Santiago Atitlán, (highway N14). It can be climbed in approximately 50 minutes, it has a beautiful panoramic view of the town with the same name and the lake.
